LUCKY IN THE FLIPPIN’ NY!

Heeeeeeeeey folks! What’s up? It has been a while since my latest post. Quite true huh? Well, the point is that we have all been terribly busy taking care of exams at university (and talking about me, my Master’s Degree thesis. Yikes!), somebody has moved to a different city, Italy itself has been a MESS. We had no pope, no government, no police chief… Yes UK, we are following you. Anarchy in Italy… About time.

However, however, however… There are no excuses for not sharing the pearls of awesomess I have been collecting during this time. I was kind of waiting for something to push me sharing my latest updates and well, that something has hit me right this morning. Thank you blog secret lover, you made me defeat the lazyness monster!

But let’s stop procrastinating. The most awesome-st thing that is happening to me right now is that I AM IN NEW YORK. Bloody hell! Yes fellows, no jokes, after hitting  London and Istanbul I am in the big apple! Here you are a proof that I am not fooling you!

A sweet view from Bladeru Manhattan

I don’t know if you have ever been here. Well, to be honest I had never been a fan of NY. The big city, the business, the hyper-activity of the people… Well, all these things are sweet, but I have never felt them on my strings. But once here, I realized that something was completely different from my idea of New York. MOVIES ALL LIE. Which is something strange for somebody like me. I use to see movies (and music, books, the arts in general) emphasizing about things, but what they do say about NY? If you ask me, they all lie.

image

Do you love this show huh? Well I used to love it until it simply became way toooooo looooong and sloooow

So, no folks, New York is not all flashing lights, junk food, the amusements and the oppurtunities. It’s not all white people in one side and then all the black people on the other side and then the asians (which FYI are a lot!). Shit no. New York is all these things together. New York has not an actual identity unless we consider its mashup of different people its real own identity. Think about it as a huge college party, where people of any kind are in. People, it is a friggin’ melting pot! And that is awesome.

To me, to see all these different people gathered in one city in the world makes it quite rare and interesting. I just wonder why the reality of things is so rarely told into movies, or television, or novels. New Yorkers, you might have the shining light of the VIPs (meh…) but people, you are a flippin’ constant mess of different cultures. That makes you cool. Think about it.

I am here since less than a week, but so far this is my impression. I might be wrong, but a part of me wishes badly to not be awakened from this unexpected state of things. But well, I have more than three weeks more to spend here, so I will keep you in the loop about anything new and/or interesting about my trip.

In the meantime… Some goodies!

Budapest Bár - Szívemben Bomba Van. A memory from my latest trip to Budapest. Shit, I am still in love with this stuff!

An AWESOME video clip I have found thanks to a friend of mine! Quite inspiring! (The preview is partially misleading)

Another cool video I have found. Simple, yet effective!

…And talking about simple but effective things. Look what I have done while here in NY. Yes! I went to the International Pillow Fight Day, yikes!

Machete Don’t Text, Machete Improvises

Yes Dudes, it is really happening, I’m definitely going to talk you about the most awsome movie in 2010: MACHETE!

As you may have come to know by now, I am a great B-movie fan! But this time, with this movie, I think that this genre has come to a new level!
It is REALLY AWSOME! It has become one of my favourite films ever, it has all the typical b-movie contents but it’s much more than this!

First, it has an exceptional cast, featuring, among the others, Danny Trejo (the TOUGH Machete!), Lindsey Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagull and His Majesty Robert DeNiro!

Second, it all started from the famous Fake Trailer in Rodriguez’s Planet Terror, and even if it was fucking hard to make an entire movie cooler than the trailer, Rodriguez got it MUCH MORE MEMORABLE!
If you missed the trailer, here it is!

Isn’t incredible that there could be something better than this?

Third, unlike most b-movies, it has also an interesting and meaningful plot! Fact that for the genre lovers isn’t strictly necessary, but thanks to this a lot of people could appreciate this Masterpiece!

So definitely, YOU ALL have to watch this!

Yours,
MrW

SHOUT!

Definitely, YES! SHOUT PARTY is the BEST party you could find yourselves in! It is really incredible!
As LuckyBastard and I considered yesterday night, while we were wandering tirely in a kind of desert-post-atomic Genova without anyone or anything alive around us, that party is the only place where I genuinely manage to have FUN!

I don’t know why, it is kind of magical, it’s the atmosphere, the people, the good music, but the fact is that there everything makes you let yourselves go and REALLY have fun! You enter this Gyps-a-Billy-Beat-Punk-Cabaret world and by the end of the concerts (yeah, it’s kind of 4 or 5 hours of uninterrupted concerts!) you are completely lost in this wonderful world!
I really have to thank you the great headliners of the party, Kamikaze Queens, and the guys that more than anyone created that magical atmosphere, the band made me dance and jump and shout more than any other there, and the guys who offered us a beer in the aftershow, Jane Walton!

Great night! I’m looking foreward to SHOUT 2011!

The evil me

A new year has finally come! It’s time to make a bunch of crazy plans and schedule something great (Eva conquering the world? Ya, would be good!). Actually, since I’m close to my graduation, I’m exploring strange dimensions of pure weirdness caused by my new mad habits… Skipping sleep? Not such a good panacea. So that’s why I still haven’t written anything about the wonderful trip I’ve just had. Oh, Istanbul! Guys, that place is simply incredible! I’ve so much cool stuff to talk about. So hold on!

Well, this year also began with some refreshing news. First: I had a haircut. Yep, my legendary hair-style is no more on this Planet. Are you wondering how? Well, I was looking for something new and the girl with scissors made an evil version of me. See.

Evil LB
Oh my god! An evil and so damnly charming LB!

Anyway I think that this neat appearance simply doesn’t fit me at all, so this is the story how I quickly changed my mind. Btw please feel free to send me your reviews, even if I’m already the curly one again.

Good fellows working

Second (we were listing): Eva’s going to take part in a nice band contest. This event, called Hangar 19, will see us on stage for a great gig on March 4th at Area 51 in Vignole Borbera (AL, Italy). So, since we need your support… Stay tuned and just don’t miss it.

Third: my weirdness, and a good friend’s advice, lead me to a really cool (and it also seems popular) website which name is Livemocha. How does it works? Well, you just have to subscribe on it (it’s free) putting your native language plus all the foreign ones you’d like to learn (or just improve) and… The magic begins! The site will teach you a lot of usueful stuff and, best part, provides you also the oppurtunity to exchange suggestions, corrections or just a chat with native speakers from the whole world. It’s pure awesomess. Well, you have to know that since I’m deeply in love with foreign languages I’m using this mocha-stuff to refine my English and Spanish, and also to learn French and Turkish(!).
Don’t be so amazed guys, as I said I’m in love with foreign languages and also Turkey has stole my soul! So, if you want just try to catch me on the mocha.

My aka? LuckyBastard, of course.

Eva conquiering the world with her international gang

…And again, and again, and again… [the incredible killer ice adventure, part 2]

Yes, Christmas is coming arm-in-arm with a definitely CRAPPY weather. Really nice isn’t it?
Anyway, this 2nd Xmas from th creation of the project would be much less sparkling if we hadn’t foud THIS awsome trailer on youtube that’s warming our hearts up like those red-bricked-fireplaces from our favourite heart-breaking-christmas-eve-movies.

The guys who worked in that are simply genius.

Well, in case you are going to attend a destrutive Xmas dinner (as I am), ENJOY YOUR MEAL!
But if tonight’s destroying dinner is only a mild hors d’oeuvre for tomorrow’s incredibly dangerous Xmas lunch (as I am), GOOD LUCK GUYS!

Merry Green Christmas Dear Fellows!

LB’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” madness!

This thing is amazing! Today I found this on the web and now I can’t stand without sharing it with all of you. Neil Patrick Harris is a great hilarious actor, and he’s well-known to all of us. You can actually find him starring in the best sitcom you can ever watch, How I Met Your Mother. Awsome.

BUT NOW, OMG, I KNOW THERE’S SOMETHING MORE!
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Wandering around on youtube I found this, and I instantly went mad for this awesome dude.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog totally rocks, guys! Don’t miss this great short series. It would take a while, but it’s worth watching.
